Camp Cowboy Program Overview
Camp Cowboy University is a FREE 90-day program where veterans, active-duty service members, first responders, and their families gain hands-on experience in horsemanship, ranch management, and agricultural skills while building confidence and camaraderie. Each session at the ranch includes a variety of activities designed to teach essential skills and provide real-world ranch experience.
Safety Briefing – Most Important Class:
Things not to do around horses you are not familiar with, proper footwear, why horses react in certain ways, ranch and barn safety, etc., etc.
Health & Wellness:
Understanding horses and their basic nutritional needs, body condition scoring, how to calculate weight, identification of different types of feed and supplements, interpretation of feed bag tags, and suggested feeding guidelines.
Each participant assists with morning feeding and mucking, and daily ranch tasks.
Grooming of Horses:
Important maintenance, brushing, hoof care, bathing, tying, types of equipment used, etc.
Equine Behavior:
Ways horses communicate with the herd,meanings of body language, etc.
Basic Groundwork Skills:
Importance of groundwork, leading with respect, lunging, moving away, etc.
Farm & Ranch Management:
Basic startup costs, acreage per animal, equipment, pasture grasses, record keeping, vet care, and much more.
During each session there is always a chance to work cattle, mend fences, observe ranch life, etc.

Special guests come out for each session to speak about:
- Raising livestock
- Equine/Cattle Careers
- Give Basic Roping Classes
- Horse shoeing Demos
- Horse trainers
We also offer a 1-2 day Kids Camp during the summer for children of our veterans, first responders, and Gold Star Families.
